description The French pill scare burst in 2012, following the media exposure of Marion Larat’s stroke, which was attributed to the pill. This article aims to contribute to understanding this phenomenon by exploring the testimonies published on the website of the Association of Victims of Pulmonary Embolism and Stroke Related to Hormonal Contraception (Avep). This article focuses on the discursive strategies deployed in order to render more visible risks that are minimized or even hidden by medical discourse (Turrini & Bourgain, 2021a). Enabling women to speak out on this issue aims to critique medical discourse by producing a highly experiential knowledge that emphasizes emotions and medical details. These discursive strategies foreshadow on-line, autobiographical testimonies as a new form of non-representational activism oriented towards the dissemination of individual counter-information actions.
