description | The aim of the study was to determine the effect of protected CLA and linseed as supplements in the diets for fattening lambs on fatty acid profile and CLA content in loin and leg meat, liver and perirenal fat and on some biochemical indicators in blood plasma. The experiment was carried out on twelve 80 days old lambs, divided into 3 groups of 4 animals. The animals were fed with meadow hay and commercial concentrate “CJ”. The treatments were the control diet (IC) and the control diet supplemented either with 0.5 % of protected CLA (IICLA) or 2 % of crushed linseeds (IIINL). No statistically significant effect of the treatments on biochemical indicators in blood plasma was observed. CLA or linseed supplementation had also no effect on chemical composition and cholesterol content in analyzed tissues. Linseed supplementation had a significant effect (P<0.05) on liver and perirenal fat fatty acid profile and increased the CLA content in the liver. |
