description The article examines the views of Russian and foreign scholars on the problem of interdisciplinarity/transdisciplinarity in translation studies. These phenomena lead to the formation of new integrative academic paradigms. The author proposes an integrative approach to translation studies and a way of regarding the translator's activity as a stable dynamic system. It has been made possible through comprehensive examination of internal and external factors as well as individual features of the translator such as his/her insights, individual approach, which manifests themselves in the quality of translation. The main features of integrative translation studies have been evaluated. Main tasks in this area are now under development. The overall aims of the integrative translation studies have been formulated. This approach shifts its focus from the process of translation to its quality as its ultimate proof. It is proposed to model the translation process on the basis of the principle of "multichannel" feature of the translator's thinking, which involves the integration of conscious mental actions with unconscious operations. This makes it possible to characterize the translation activity as a purposeful dynamic system of interrelated actions from the holistic viewpoint. According to the author, the integrative approach to studying the translation process makes it possible to successfully use interdisciplinarity as an advantage in creating an appropriate translation model and in training future translators. Orientation in both research and teaching on the quality of translation activities, taking into account many factors that influence it, can contribute to positive changes in the assessment of the importance of the profession of a translator.
