| description | The relationship between fire, mankind and animals is a really complex one with very ancient roots: all myths about the origin of fire frequently portray the role played by animals as intermediaries between mankind and god in discovering fire. That is why it seems men are indebted to animals for this important and revolutionary discovery. However, not always do men recognise this, so during past centuries –but even today- severe criminal actions are committed against animals using fire. In this perspective, when we mention forest fires, it is important also to remember the huge losses suffered by animals. The damage caused by forest fires inevitably dooms many species to perish and, at the same time, that greatly modifies the habitat of burnt areas. As a result, the recolonization of these areas by those species will be very difficult, with serious negative consequences on their reproductive cycle.Le lien entre le feu, l’homme et les animaux est compliqué; il remonte à bien des siècles: en ce qui concerne cette importante découverte révolutionnaire, les mythes sur l’origine du feu décrivaient déjà la bête comme une intermédiaire entre les hommes et la divinité. Les hommes donc devraient avoir une dette envers les animaux, mais ils ne sont pas toujours capables de témoigner de la reconnaissance. En effet, par le passé, et même de nos jours, nombreux sont les actes criminels contre les animaux, qui ont été provoqués par l’homme avec le feu. Dans ce sens, il faut aussi remarquer que la faune subit de graves pertes à cause des incendies de forêts. Effectivement, un incendie condamne à mort beaucoup d'espèces animales et il faut aussi observer que le feu modifie profondément l’habitat dans les zones détruites. Par conséquent, les animaux ont de très faibles possibilités de recoloniser leur habitat et cela frappe négativement le cycle de développement. |
