Description
Summary:This article discusses the directions democracy has taken in Brazil since President Jair Bolsonaro was elected. The growing authoritarian character is taking the form of fascism. The performances of President Bolsonaro and other members of the Government exhibit a semiotic of horror, to intimidate population. At the same time, these performances exhibit a populist rhetoric of exaltation of the leader. The opposition hesitates on how to react in front of daily threats. The sanitary situation of the country, which was violently affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, is worsening this process.
