Description
Summary:The article deals with the financialization of daily life, namely the penetration of financial concepts, strategies and instruments into the daily lives of individuals and families. The issue is addressed in relation to inclusion and exclusion processes, aiming to detect the effects that the financial exposure may have on inequalities. Through the analysis of four relevant areas – old age, health, housing and consumption – the article highlights how the increasing pervasiveness of financialization contributes to generating new forms of inequalities between individuals and families (distinguishing those included and those who they are not) and within included individuals and families (with different opportunities and access conditions for those who are, directly or indirectly, on the markets), shaping new dynamics on the border between inclusion and exclusion.
