| description | The landscape of many small towns of Alta Irpinia (Central-Eastern area of Campania) has been disfigured by the well-known 1980 earthquake. The identity of communities living in these places and representing a social-anthropological entity in conjunction with the urban landscapes has been heavily impacted.
Tangible and intangible wounds were initially healed through emergency reconstruction, yet the depopulation phenomenon increased, many people abandoned their homes. Loss of identity, impoverishment feeling of non inclusiveness nor belonging to the historical places increased.
The Campania Region identified Alta Irpinia as a Pilot Area to strategically implement integrated actions protecting territory, crafts, local communities, natural and cultural resources, tourism, and energy saving programs.
The contribution aims at analyzing some reconstruction and/or displacement experiences (Conza della Campania, Quaglietta, Lioni) to understand the complexity of the identification of a people with its memory of places. Socio-anthropological, cultural, and economic factors are the focal points, and architectural design will have to address the genius loci.
We will underline the critical-methodological tools of conservation and restoration which are necessary for a trans-disciplinary approach to the complexity of the material and intangible phenomena, in a shared horizon of perspectives and intents.
Patrimoni e memorie in dissolvenza: dinamiche di trasformazione e di abbandono dei centri dell’Alta Irpinia tra distruzione e ri-costruzione
Alcuni paesaggi campani dell’area geo-storica dell’Alta Irpinia sono stati irrimediabilmente sfigurati nel corso del terremoto del 1980. L’identità socio-antropologica e la natura dei paesaggi urbani sono stati fortemente segnati. Alla rimarginazione delle ferite materiali con piani di ricostruzione e alle ferite nella coscienza memoria collettiva, è seguito un fenomeno di spopolamento, con allontanamento di residenti, aumento del senso di estraneità ai luoghi e il depauperamento del tessuto sociale e della vita produttiva.
Contro il trend di abbandono, la Regione ha individuato l’Alta Irpinia come area pilota per affrontare strategicamente la valorizzazione delle risorse naturali e culturali, nonché la tutela del territorio e delle comunità locali.
Partendo da uno studio in fieri su Conza della Campania, Quaglietta, Lioni, il contributo si sofferma sui temi della ricostruzione e/o dislocamento di tessuti urbani e della complessità della identificazione della collettività con la memoria dei luoghi.
Insieme a fattori socio-antropologici, economici, l’architettura ed il progetto devono misurarsi con un genius loci connotato da perdite ma anche da sopravvivenze di un vissuto storico-architettonico con il quale il nuovo deve entrare in dialogo sostanziale.
Si porranno in evidenza gli strumenti critici e metodologici propri del settore della conservazione e del restauro, per un approccio transdisciplinare al fenomeno in un orizzonte condiviso di prospettive e di intenzioni. |
