description Experiments were conducted to investigate the equilibrium adsorption of benzene by macroreticular resins. Also tested was the adsorption of benzene by macroreticular resins in a countercurrent multistage adsorption process. The experimental data were employed to verify the theoretical predictions by mass balance equations. The test results indicated that a considerable saving in the amount of adsorption resin may be achieved under most circumstances in a multistage adsorption process in achieving the same extent of organic compound removal as in the single-stage process.
