Summary: | As a magical tale of the transgression of a forbidden, Birago Diop’s tale "Sarzan" aims to promote values. This reflection shows how the literalness of the tale is expressed through the internal functioning of its constituent elements. How does the structure of the narrative marry the intentionality of the discourse ? Through analepses, exhilarating and desolate pauses and an axiological discourse that enhances and devalues, "Sarzan" evokes Keita’s past while insisting on the consequences that the transgression of the forbidden. It therefore emerges from the analysis that the structure of the tale is part of its aesthetics and aims at an intentionality : to promote cultural values. The tale thus asserts itself as a doing whose perlocutory value aims to rule society. |
