Summary:Because of the characteristics of historical knowledge, reading assumes great importance. Teaching reading in the discipline is important for students to learn History. The article presents a didactic analysis of the role of reading in class from three teachers in high school. The role of reading texts in class is considered, also the relationship between what is done in classrooms and teachers conceptions about the role of reading in teaching and learning History.Analyses are carried belong to research that aims to know the conceptions of teachers about the role of reading in the teaching and learning of history, and characterize the assumptions involved in the educational proposals. Therefore, classes in public high schools have been observed and have conducted interviews with teachers to get their perspective on the teaching of history and the role of reading in teaching and learning history as well as what happened in the classes observed.
