description | The Neolithic comb-ornamented ceramic ware assemblages discovered in the Chuvash Volga area are analyzed in the article. The general characteristics of this ceramics, including vessel shapes, technological traits, ornamental compositions and patterns is given. The cultural and chronological attribution of the sites with combed ceramics is offered. The emergence of the comb-ornamented ceramic ware in the Chuvash Volga area has been dated to the late 5th millennium BC. The majority of the studied comb-ornamented pottery assemblages have been attributed to the Kama culture, presumably its early and advanced stages. The territory under study had represented the western edge of the area of this culture and comb-ornamented ceramics in general |
