Summary: | The archetype of the schism in Old Russian literature
This article aims to identify the origins of the Russian literary-philosophical thought in the Old Rus. In the ancient verbal creativity for the first time began to emerge – through the narrative, story structure, genre specific models, etc. – a set of cultural constants: the archetypes that would later form the basis of the Russian philosophical and artistic thought in the centuries of its development. The article focuses at the formation of one of the main archetypes of the Russian literature – the Split. This archetype, which then determines the movement of Russian literature for centuries, is regarded by the analysis of such prominent works by the ancient authors as Sermon on Law and Grace by Hilarion, The Song of Igor’s Campaign, The Life by the Archpriest Avvakum, etc.
