| description | This article aims at considering the question of the cultural censorship which was systematically, permanently and arbitrarily applied in prison during the last Argentinian dictatorship (1976-1983). We will focus particularly on the censorship which was used in high-security prisons where political prisoners were held. This first aspect will lead us to analyze the way the political prisoners reacted in front of the sometimes complete prohibition of reading material and games. Thus, we will see how reading turned into a highly liberating, informative, political and social activity, as an answer and in opposition to the various measures taken by the authorities of the prison to prevent its practice and spread. |
