Summary:In this paper, the use of the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm for solar cell parameters estimation considered. The values of series and shunt resistance, the value of the reverse saturation current and the value of photogenerator are estimated. Estimated parameters obtained using the described method are compared with the parameters obtained use of the Iterative method. The accuracy has been verified by comparing the measured and estimated current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) characteristics, with special attention on the voltage range in the part of the characteristic where the operation point is most often located. In this range of interest, the obtained results show that the PSO method better approximates I-V and P-V characteristics.
