| description | The paper analyzes data on kidney cancer incidence and mortality in Russia and Saint-Petersburg, highlights the issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of kidney cancer, depending on the stage of the disease and the age of the patient. The incidence of kidney cancer has been steadily increasing over the last ten years, and this is predominantly related to the advances in imaging technology and because of the growth and aging of the population. In Russia, the kidney cancer incidence is expected to increase rapidly due to increases in proportion of early kidney cancer patients that makes it extremely important to improve the organ-preserving treatment of this disease. Morphological verification must necessarily be done both in patients with metastatic cancer and in patients planning to undergo ablation treatment. |
