description The antibiotherapy of lactated women is important in certain circumstances. Almost all antibiotics can pass into breast milk at different rates. Factors like molecular weight, being lipophylic, protein binding affect this transmission. The amount of antibiotic in breast milk is generally small and may not cause any problem. But in certains circumstances significant clinical problem may be observed in infants who take antimicrobial during suckling. Such as sulfamid and nalidixic acid in breast milk may cause hemolysis in infant with GGPD insufficiency and again sulfamid may cause kern-icterus. Gray syndrome may develop in infants who take chloramphenicol during suckling.
