Description
Summary:Social network platforms such as Flickr and Google Panoramio provide a myriad of images with information on their location, date and time of origin. Analysis of these “big data“ sources reveals landscape attraction, visiting-rate and the preferences of people in different time and space. This contribution provides four analyses of Google Panoramio images. The first example indicates the distribution and density of panoramio pictures in Slovakia. The second highlights the picture density which portrays the appreciation of landscape aesthetic values in different landscape types. The third employs the geo-tagged photos as indicators of visiting-rate and the visual attractiveness of tourism objects. The final example then identifies differences in public visiting preferences in Bratislava during the summer and winter seasons.
