Summary: | <p class="first" id="d334799e83">In order to think through the current, contradictory situation, this article aims
at tackling a new form of development in (semi-) peripheral social formations by critically
conceptualizing the formation of a fraction of the ruling classes and its specific
development strategy. To comprehend class formation in the (semi-) periphery, we need
to develop an adequate concept, which is appropriate for the peculiarity of this development.
This article argues that the new fraction can be classified as a neo-national bourgeoisie
(NNB).
