Description
Summary:This article critically reviews the psychotherapeutic path of a young Russian immigrant, that runs parallel to the difficult process of her integration in a different cultural context. It highlights its stages, each of which represented for Olga a painful transition marked by sufferings but also by unexpected victories on the past, on her vulnerability, and on resistance by the host environment, ending up with strengthening her identity and opening her horizon towards a new life. The key to such transitions is the meeting between a culturally sensitive capacity of listening and the availability to be heard without to renounce one’s own cultural identity.
