Summary: | This paper refers the field of interactional linguistics. I examine how the notion of paradigm can echo the key notions of the descriptive and conceptual apparatus of this field. The main issues that are considered concern the description of the temporality of interaction, and of the analyst’s position in relation to the participants’ experience (etic vs emic). These issues are discussed on the basis of the analysis of a series of excerpts of naturally occurring interaction. The author puts forward the following words: interactional linguistic, temporality, descriptive perspective, repair, word search.
