Summary: | The paper presents the study of the semantics and syntactic context of the phraseological unit ‘a (big) girl’s blouse’ by methods of component analysis and seme retrieval. Potential semes are retrieved from texts of the British national discourse. The semes of action, state and appearance are classified within modeling of the extensive semantic structure of phraseological unit. The correlation of male and female characteristics is stated. Single lexical and semantic context of a phraseological unit is implemented in the forms of the verb to be when referring to somebody or for self-criticism. The dictionary entry of the phraseological unit is compiled. |
