Summary:Internet of things describes a situation in which a large number of devices (objects) are connected to each other via the Internet by sensors. Considering the role of libraries in collecting, processing and disseminating information, they should be able to play the role such as other organizations.The purpose of this study was to checki the attitudes of librarians in the central library of the top universities about the Internet of things and present its application pattern in the academic library.This study applied a survey-descriptive method. The statistical population of this research is the knowledge and information science specialists working in the central libraries of the first level universities in Iran, which consisted of 298 people. The statistical population of the study was gathered through a simple random sampling. The sample size is 168 by the Cochran formula, but slightly more than 180 questionnaires were distributed. Among all the distributed questionnaires, 113 questionnaires were collected.The resultsof this study show that the Internet of things technology was used in many library processes and in the activities of public services, technical services, and library services. The responses received from librarians as well as other studies have shown that although the use of Internet of things technology will impose costs on the libraries, due to the high value of this technology as well as the speed and ease with which the library's executive and managerial activities it will arise, using this technology in the library will be desirable. Finally, the results of the study present the design and the pattern of usage of the Internet of things in the academic library.
