Summary:Among the major health problems which have affected the Brazilian population is dengue, requiring integrated and participatory control actions. The study investigated the existence or no of intersectoral actions between health and education areas in an endemic region of Rio de Janeiro state. To such were conducted semi-structured interviews with seven teachers of science and biology of a public school and 16 health professionals from a health care unit close the school selected. The interviews were analyzed by thematic content. The results showed superficial knowledge about the disease, lacking dialogue between the protagonists of the sectors investigated and the informational materials available are scarce and sometimes inadequate.
