description | Today we have a large amount of scientific information on the effectiveness of prescribing probiotics in infants with a preventive purpose: improving the intestinal microflora after cesarean section, correcting intestinal microbiota disturbance on the background of perinatal and somatic pathology (for example, necrotizing enterocolitis, allergic diseases, etc.), increase protective mechanisms of the child’s body, etc. However, among experts, there is an increasing opinion that the list of probiotic prescribing indications in neonatology is reduced and their clinical feasibility is reviewed, especially with the current possibility of using donor breast milk for the nutrition of premature babies and newborns with perinatal pathology from the birth to the stage of intensive care unit and post-intensive care.In 2018, the European Standards of care for newborn health (EFCNI), which summarized modern European guidelines for the provision of medical care and monitoring for premature babies from birth to the follow-up phase, were published in open information access. The article provides a brief analysis of current data on the use of probiotics in neonatological practice and presents a Standard for the prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis, in which, in order to prevent the implementation of the disease, it is recommended to prescribe probiotics to premature babies who absorb enteral nutrition. The recommendation has evidence and definition. |
