Description
Summary:Maria Therese von Artner, born in 1772, is one of the almost forgotten German authors born in what is now Slovakia, which at the time was Upper Hungary. She was interested in various aspects of the social and political upheavals in the Habsburg Monarchy and in Europe around 1800, especially the everyday reality of women’s lives. Against the background of contemporary socio-historical conditions, this study examines the self-image of the author, who lived and worked on the periphery of cultural centres and whose writing was determined by her personal artistic ambitions and the literary trends of the time.
