description A 36-year-old male had insidious onset pain and swelling in the left thigh without any relevant history of trauma, surgery, or familial causes. On clinical examination a bony mass was palpable in the left thigh and movements of the limb were quite painful to the patient. The mass became more prominent on adduction of the left hip. CT and MRI were strongly suggestive of Myositis ossificans of the adductor longus. Surgical removal of the bony mass of size 1.8 × 2.5 × 8.5cm was performed and the patient has recovered fully postoperatively. Such a presentation of well-circumscribed bony mass at a heterotopic location away from the large joints and without any relevant history for onset is worth mentioning adding to the novelty of the report.
