description The publication in Saragossa in 1604 of the Comedias del famoso poeta Lope de Vega heralds the birth of a format that was swiftly to become an editorial canon : the Parte de comedias. Literary history has examined these partes from a purely genealogical point of view: who is the real author of a parte? (the playwright?, a collector?, a bookseller?); from where does the parte come? (from a private collection, from a theatrical company’s repertoire? These are all essential questions which would undoubtedly benefit from some thought about the composition of these volumes arising from the simple observation concerning their material and enunciative support: a parte is a collection of twelve plays. What does this multiple and polyphonic structure imply? What criteria were followed for the putting together of the comedias. Should a given parte be seen as a coherent whole, or should it be considered as arising from a series of coincidences? This article aims to raise such questions in the hope of proposing some lines of investigation of an interpretative and methodological type that takes into account the composition of the partes de comedias.
