| Summary: | Shifting from formal and institutional to communicative and participatory conceptions of planning does not only alter the understanding of its instruments, but challenges hitherto evaluation techniques with the dilemma of insufficient measurability and small impact of narrative objectives. As a consequence, methodological advances are required to enable actors to evaluate the processes they are involved in. Agent-based simulation provides promising opportunities towards that aim.
