Summary: | Indonesia as a country with a large Muslim population has the potential to develop Islamic economics where Islamic banking is one of the main supporting pillars. In fact, the development of Islamic Banks in Indonesia has not been able to compensate for conventional commercial banks, especially in terms of profitability aspects. This is the fundamental problem that must be found a solution in implementing the sharia economy in Indonesia, especially the sharia banking sector which continues to be encouraged to be more professional, independent and sustainable. The purpose of this study is to analyse the influence of external variables including inflation rate (X1), bank interest rates (X2), gross domestic product (X3), and USD foreign exchange rate (X4) on profitability (Y) which is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). Using quantitative methods by collecting sample data that meets the purposive sampling criteria of Bank Syariah Indonesia regulations. The object of research is Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia for the 2011-2017 book periods which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The results showed that both simultaneous and partial inflation rates, interest rates, gross domestic product, and the USD foreign exchange rate did not affect ROA. |
