Its purpose is to ensure better local and regional management of groundwater use and it seeks to have a sustainable groundwater management in California by 2042.This law, developed the six sustainable management criteria to achieve groundwater sustainability, and this report introduces these criteria. It also characterizes the relationship between the different sustainable management criteria – the sustainability goal, undesirable results, minimum thresholds, and measurable objectives as an important part to develop a Groundwater Sustainable Plan (GSP).
