description | This paper analyzes the development of the Dodoitsu(Riyo) genre and its unique features, focusing on an orthodox Riyotune, Kachi Crow, published in a magazine in Seoul. The range of Japaneselanguage literature performed in Korea was very wide. Much Dodoitsu was also created on the Korean Peninsula as well as in Japan. Though the Dodoitsu genre maintained contemporaneity with the Showa Period as expected, a change in the name such as the Riyo orthodox tune and Gaika(the town song) was shown. Further, Dodoitsu was changing in order to reflect suitability for the name change. Modern popular life in Seoul can be assessed as the unique quality of Dodoitsu produced in Korea through Kachi Crow. Also confirmed is that Gaika, a song evoking urbanism in the 1930s, depicted modern popular daily life in Seoul more clearly. In other words, Riyo was a popular poetic literature created in East Asia, and functioned as a genre representing both contemporaneity and internationalism. |
