Description
Summary:Based on the study of manuscript 16298 from the Biblioteca Nacional de España, this article provides new data on the actors and actresses who represented the royal festival Triunfos de Amor y Fortuna, by Antonio de Solís, at the Buen Retiro Palace in 1658. In addition to specifying information on the printed transmission of the pieces that made up the royal festival (loa, comedy, two entremeses and a sainete or end of comedy), the article insists on the value of the BNE manuscript when it comes to making a critical edition of the comedy, since it contains notable differences with the printed editions that are probably due to a different scenic conception, thought for another palace theater space, or perhaps respond to an earlier version of the comedy. Significant examples are adduced from the third act with a different ending.
