description Migration has contributed decisively to the population growth of the state of Espirito Santo. This contribution has been strengthened in the second half of the 2000s, in which the increase via migration growth. This paper, from a comparative analysis of volumes and migration characteristics and trends in the periods of 1986-1991, 1995-2000 and 2005-2010, seeks to verify which factors may be related to the migration in Espírito Santo. The results indicate that the best framework conditions in the 2000s resulted in higher net migration than in previous decades, concomitant with the continuity in terms of selectivity and direction of migrant flows.
