Description
Summary:The purpose of this article is to explore the interest of military allowances as one of the possible sources for analysing circulations Êwithin the Hispanic Monarchy, especially those of « ordinary people ». The results come from a research in progress dealing with the beneficiaries of these allowances who lived between Christendom and Islamdom during the late 16th and early 17th centuries : former Christian captives, renegades, converts of Muslim or Jewish origins, as well as Ottoman Christians who served to the Spanish Habsburgs in their armies.
