| Summary: | The paper focuses on the origin of Lithuanian Modern architecture during the interwar period and analyses an emerging phenomenon of architectural criticism and theory. while exploring the press on architecture of the time, first of all you can find numerous discussions on the representative values of architecture, considerable amount of texts on social housing, widely encountered practical problems of urbanization, however, only scattered references to the aesthetic dimensions of architecture can be traced. Thus, as the main objective of the paper, this rather obscure but nevertheless very important aspect of interwar architecture was chosen. The basic logic of evaluating architecture as an aesthetic and artistic phenomenon is examined in the paper.
Santrauka
Straipsnyje siekiama apžvelgti lietuviškąsias modernizmo architektūros ištakas tarpukario architektūros teorijoje bei kritikoje. Pasižvalgius po to meto spaudą, visų pirma į akis krenta, jog būta nemažų diskusijų dėl architektūros reprezentacinės reikšmės, dėl jos socialinio vaidmens, plačiai aptarinėtos iškilusios praktinės miestų plėtros problemos, tačiau apie estetinę architektūros dimensiją užsimenama tik vienur kitur. Būtent šis, menkiau apčiuopiamas, tačiau norint giliau pažinti ir įvertinti tarpukario architektūrą itin svarbus aspektas ir yra pasirinktas pagrindiniu straipsnio objektu. Architektūrinės estetikos samprata tekste analizuojama siekiant įvertinti, kaip tarptautinio modernizmo architektūrinės teorijos motyvai pasireiškė tarpukario Lietuvos architektūrinėje kultūroje, kiek plačiai šios idėjos prasiskverbė į visuomenės architektūrinį mentalitetą.
