The main causes are the reduction in fertility rates, ageing of population and increasing immigration flows. Shrinking working population and a higher amount of retired people will place additional strains on public sector finance. How to adopt the economy and other policies to this new situation? How to maintain European global competitivness and strong position in the world? This paper discuss the main demographic changes in Europe and how to deal with them, it presents and discuss solutions how to make from a challenge an opportunity.
