Description
Summary:The paper is focussed on the role of increased sympathetic activation in the pathogenesis of arterial hypertension (AH), its exacerbations (hypertensive crises), and complications. One of the effective methods of interrupting pathogenetic “vicious circles” in AH is the blockage of peripheral alpha-adrenoreceptors. One of the medications of choice for urgent treatment of hypertensive crises, as well as for long-term ambulatory treatment, is urapidil – a peripheral sympatholytic with characteristics of a central serotonin receptor agonist.
