| Summary: | This study deals with the general properties of agriculture in the Ottoman State, particularly at the beginning of the 19th and 20th centuries. Afterwards, the sub-sectors of the agriculture in the Ottoman State have been evaluated according to the agricultural census of the years 1909, 1913 and 1914 prior to the first world war. Thus, the analysis of the development of agriculture in the period of the republic of Turkey has been carried out in more realistic ground by keeping contact with the period of the Ottoman State. Besides, according to the agricultural census mentioned, the evaluation of agriculture of the Ottoman State has been fulfilled in the sample of Kale-i Sultaniye Sanca÷ı by being dealt with the sub-sectors of the agricultural life in Kale-i Sultaniye Sanca÷ı. The agricultural life of Kale-i Sultaniye Sanca÷ı gives an idea in respect of the level that the agriculture has reached in present Marmara and Aegean Regions, where the agriculture has relatively more developed in the period of the Ottoman State. |
