The present study is part of a greater research project which aims at pinpointing the characteristics of a system of economy based on the data offered by the Scriptures. When it comes to such an issue, or any other issue for that matter, one has to make a clear differentiation between the biblical account of certain human decisions and the divine will expressed in the biblical text concerning those decisions. So, in tackling this topic, we had to bear in mind the biblical data about certain phenomena and processes, such as, switching to the monarchical system of government, excessive public expenditures and taxation policy abuses. Positively, one needed to underline the virtues of the Israelite taxation system and the perpetuity of budgetary and fiscal benchmarks, whose regulations have been proved to be relevant since biblical times.
