Description
Summary:
Abstract (E): Peter Piller's artist's books, especially those published between 2002-2006, merit an attentive examination, most notably in regard to his novel personal use of photography. Photographs (and partly also their legends) directly cut out from regional dailies are the objects of his arrangements. Based on this artistic ensemble, where the narration is guided as much by the visual as by the readable, questions arise in reference to the ephemeral character of the photographic medium, to reproducibility, and to the poetry of quotidian phenomena. Furthermore, the archival dimension of the photographic and the peculiarity of the printed photograph are up for discussion.
