Summary:AIM: To evaluate clinical effect of phacoemulsification combined with anterior vitrectomy for uveitis complicated cataract.<p>METHODS: Totally 20 patients(24 eyes)with uveitis who had phacomeulsifacation and anterior vitrectomy between March 2010 and October 2012 were reviewed retrospectively. All patients were implanted intraocular lens.<p>RESULTS: The follow-up varied from 6 to 12 months. The visual acuity improved in 23 eyes(96%). There was iris hemorrhage in 6 eyes(25%)of operation.Postoperative complications were anterior chamber inflammation in 2 eyes(8%), a transient elevation of intraocular pressure in 1 eye(4%).<p>CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification combined with anterior vitrectomy is an effective method in the treatment of uveitis complicated cataract, which can contribute to the control of inflammation, improve the visual function, reduce complications.
