description | In this article I shall study the ambiguous nature of the receptor in the poetry book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy, by Tim Burton. This book contains all the characteristics present in children’s li terature, but it also has characteristics of texts for an adult audience. Taking the poem, after which the book is titled, as an example, I will show how this ambiguity can be found in the translations into Spanish, Catalan, French and Italian. In addition to this, I will argue that the translation strategies used in children literature are frequently present in all these translations. |
