Summary:Following up on the previous extensive surface surveys in the valleys and steppe of the Kugitang Mountains Piedmont in 2016 and 2017, the Czech Uzbek archaeological expedition conducted small scale trial exca vations at the site of Iskandar Tepa, which had been identified as a small rural Greco Bactrian settlement. The main aim of the project was to confirm the dating and to reveal its possible function in the fortification system of the period in the Bactro Sogdian borderlands. This report offers basic information on the field work and its results in the 2018 season.
