| description | The present study is based on a mixed quantitative-qualitative survey of the working conditions and satisfaction of young scholars in religious studies (i.e., all those without a professorship). The survey was carried out in 2022 by the working group for mid-level faculty and junior staff (AKMN) of the German Association for Religious Studies (DVRW). It is an extended but comparable variant of a survey from 2015. Working conditions and their effects on professional prospects and per- sonal living conditions of those affected are described based on the survey results and compared with those from 2015. Special challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic have also been considered and reported on here. The study is not only a meaningful examination of the development of the working conditions of young religious scholars, but also a contribution to the currently intense debate about employment conditions at German universities. |
