Summary:During the 18th century, the Galician noble elite experienced a magnificent period that was evident in a higher investment in the luxury market relative to the previous centuries. One of their most significant luxury expenses was food. Food consumption acted as a symbolic element of social distinction and economic power. In fact, Galician noble country houses have turned into significant consumption centres. The following article deals with the study of food stored in the pantries of these houses, with rules and pace of food consumption, and with the factors influenced foodstuffs expense.
