Summary:The paper is a synthetic overview of the issue of securing penalties and measures applicable in the criminal proceedings on real estate. It takes into account the changes in the Code of Criminal Procedure introduced in 2017, significantly extending the possibility to impose confiscation, including the so-called extended confiscation, which had a considerable impact also on the number and value of secured real estate. The article indicates the methods of securing penalties and criminal measures on real estate and points out complex issues related to the possibility of securing certain types of confiscation on property of a person other than the perpetrator.
