description | This article attempts an understanding of the nexus between or amongst the organised maritime crimes happening within the Gulf of Guinea (GoG). In so doing, it takes a critical look at the far-reaching implications of these maritime crimes for national, regional and international security, as well as at the responses of the states within the domain of the criminality. It also examines the likely events that would happen within the terrain at a future date. The article uses primary and secondary data. This approach permits proper analysis of the peculiar national and regional issues that provide ample space for crimes to fester within the region. The study concludes that if the identified weaknesses inherent in each of and among the states of the region are not resolved, by no means would the protracted crime wave therein subside. |
