EFFECTIVENESS OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF TUBERCULOSIS IN HIV-INFECTED CHILDREN: A CASE REPORT

Methods: On average, almost every second case of tuberculosis (TB) among patients with HIV infection remains undetected. A clinical observation of two twin girls aged nine years is presented here when extrapulmonary foci of TB dissemination were identified using high-field magnetic resonance imaging...

description Methods: On average, almost every second case of tuberculosis (TB) among patients with HIV infection remains undetected. A clinical observation of two twin girls aged nine years is presented here when extrapulmonary foci of TB dissemination were identified using high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the whole body. This paper presents a clinical case illustrating the high effectiveness of MRI compared with computed tomography (CT) with less radiation exposure of the body of an HIV-infected child.
