| Summary: | The aim of this paper is to analyze the approaches to syphilis found in the Revista de Medicina, with an emphasis on reflecting on how this disease was thought of in the context of the 1920s, period when the hygienist doctrine had considerable membership among Brazilian doctors. Understood as a factor of degeneration, syphilis was mentioned as a consequence of an improper and immoral behavior. Thus, we aimed to analyze the discussions around their treatments and preventive measures. |
