Summary:In this paper, the authors deal with social media as tools of political interaction with the public of the political party. The aim of the paper is to present the essence of social media as one of the most important social, marketing and cultural phenomena of today. Another goal of the paper is to examine the impact of social media in the politics on civic engagement and public opinion. The paper analyses social media, with a special focus on Facebook and Twitter, and the most important social media researches in political interaction with citizens are presented.
